# Members and roles

Invite people under **Members** by their email. Someone with an Alf account is added at
once. Anyone else gets an invitation link (by email, and shown to you to pass on): opening it, they
make an account and join. A link works once, for 14 days; until it's used it's listed under
**Invited, not joined yet**, where you can withdraw it.

Someone who signs up without an invitation can also wait on the first page, which asks them to
start an organization or join one: as soon as you add their email, it moves on by itself.

| Role | May |
| --- | --- |
| Member | Create, change and deploy projects and services; end previews; make read-only agent tokens. |
| Admin | Also manage servers, members, settings, notifications and agent tokens that deploy; approve agents' changes; delete projects. |
| Owner | Also delete the organization. An organization always keeps at least one owner. |

You can belong to several organizations and switch between them at the top of the sidebar.

## Deleting an organization

An owner deletes it under **Settings**, by typing its address part back. It happens in two steps.

**At once.** Its apps stop and their containers are removed from the servers, its addresses stop
answering and go free, and nothing of it can be changed any more. Reading it still works, so you
can see where it stands.

**A week later.** What's left is deleted for good: volumes and the snapshots kept beside them,
custom domains, and code you pushed. Until then any owner can undo the deletion under Settings,
and everything comes back — the services start again on their own.

**Its last invoice** is made then, before anything goes: the month you deleted it in, up to then,
billed like a month that ended (your plan included, if your free credit is used up), and charged to
your payment method. Nothing after the deletion is billed.

Invoices are kept either way: they're accounting records, not yours or ours to throw away. An
organization with an unpaid invoice can't be deleted until it's settled.

If you'd rather keep the organization and stop paying for something, delete the project or the
service instead — see [Deployments](/docs/deployments).

## Deleting your account

Under **Your account** (your initial at the top right), with your password. It's for good: you
leave every organization you're in, and you're signed out everywhere.

An organization never ends up without an owner, so while you're the only owner of one, it waits:

- **Other people are in it:** make one of them an owner under **Members**, and it carries on
  without you.
- **Nobody else is:** delete the organization first, as above. Its apps stop at once.

An organization that's already being deleted doesn't hold you up. Agent tokens you made for
yourself and agents signed in as you stop working with the account; the tokens of an
organization's service account keep working, since they're the organization's. What you did in an
organization stays in its activity record, with your email address. You can sign up again with the
same address later, starting from nothing.
